Bernard, Veronika

Bernard, Veronika, PD Mag. Dr., has earned her academic degrees at the University of Innsbruck/ Austria in German and English studies. In 1996 she published her doctoral thesis on the reception of the Orient in literature of travel written by Austrian travellers of the 19th century. Her post-doctoral thesis, analyzing concepts of cities developed in texts of German literature/ fiction written between the Middle Ages and the 20th century, was published in 2000. At present she works as a university lecturer specialized in German literature (associated with the Department of German language, literature and literary criticism at Innsbruck University / Austria). Fields of research: literature portraying the Ottoman Empire written by tourists during the 19th and 20th centuries, literary texts written by Jewish authors after 1945, literary texts developing concepts of cities, literary texts written in German by authors of non-German origin.
