Dvorak, Paul F.: 1973 Ph D in German, University of Maryland with dissertation on Wolfgang Köppen. Professor of German in the School of World Studies at Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) in Richmond, USA. Since 1974 teaching German language, literature and culture. Currently Program Director for the Governor’s Foreign Language Academies at VCU. Areas of research interest: late 19 th and 20 th century German literature with an emphasis on the Austrian tradition. Translation: Alfred Kolleritsch – Allemann (1999); Robert Schneider- Dirt (1996); Joachim Unseld – Franz Kafka. A Writer’s Life (1994); Illusion and Reality: Plays and Stories of Arthur Schnitzler (1986); Stephan Hermlin – Evening Light (1983). Editor of Modern Austrian Prose: Interpretations and Insights (2001). Other work has focused on Alois Brandstetter, Peter Henisch, contemporary Austrian literature, the turn-of-the-century, and the literary and cultural connections among Vienna, Prague, and Berlin. He is presently editing volume two of Modern Austrian Prose: Interpretations and Insights for Ariadne Press.
