Language and urban milieus in Camil Petrescu and John Galsworthy’s novels

ABSTRACT:

The paper aims to offer a comparative analysis of the main literary works of the two novelists, while emphasizing mainly the way language reflects mentalities and also the connection between the language of the realistic literary works in question and the urban milieus that inspired their creation. A comparison between urban lifestyles in the inter-war period in Bucharest and London, as reflected by the two authors, will be given pride of place.
