ABSTRACT: The concepts nomads and nomadism are to be understood at the same time in practical and metaphorical terms. The concept nomadism is used in Anthropology as the designation of a way of life, but it can also be utilized in art and in art practice as a metaphor for something mobile or in motion. Above all, however, it is important to use this metaphor to describe the question of the informal networks, which have greatly shaped art practice today. In this sense the concept refers to informal organizations such as the Informal European Theatre Meeting or also to Trans Europe Halls. Partially meant also are the new, large art exhibits, which travel internationally, and the new global character of the plastic arts, but also sets the accents within video art. In this respect this section will include both the theory and the practical aspects of nomadism.
