ABSTRACT: In the course of history different cultures have encountered each other again and again in various ways. As a result of the current globalization, however, cultures are coming into contact more frequently and more intensively than ever before. By means of a historical background of cultural encounters, for example, Asia-Europe, Africa-Europe, the Habsburg Empire, etc., this section will attempt to show the unifying aspects of these cultural meetings. In this sense the aim is to examine the contemporary literature by and about women in their various cultural encounters, taking into account such aspects as, for example, relationships between the sexes, politics and cultural policies, migrant literature, colonial literature and youth literature, among others.
