Nostalgia as virtual reality in Gyula Krúdy's post-monarchic works

Nostalgia is one of the most significant elements of the oeuvre of the Hungarian writer, Gyula Krúdy. Writing about the events of the present life of his own era he uses a specific "nostalgizing" method as well as he uses the same method for representing the events of the past life in Austro-Hungary and doing the same with the future.
In the late period of his life the Monarchy does not exist anymore. So he has to use his method for representing something, which has already disappeared, but it's reminiscences are surrounding everything. These reminiscences are the milieu of Budapest the post-monarchic capital, the activities of the tired-of-life citizens, the old habits and traditions, the cuisine and the presence of the ethnic minorities everywhere.

Summarising the whole essay, unifying the cultures in Krúdy-texts is by merging places, events, stories and memories in a virtual contemporariness.
