GOAL
- To understand (plastic) art as a language, which creates
starting points of understanding that go beyond verbal language
barriers.
- To thematize the transitions from the social and art fields.
What role does art have for making ethnicities and cultures visible?
- To consider the concept of art and discuss traditional and
contemporary aesthetic theories.
THEMES
- Migration (in cooperation with migrants.)
- On the basis of concrete situations (for example, in a large,
central European city: Linz), forms of migrant articulation and
their reception by the majority Austrians and Germans will be
described. What role do folklore and tradition play? Do these
cultures have other forms of expression and communication?
- Art projects and large, internationally organized exhibits
- Numerous art initiatives, especially large, internationally
organized exhibits (Documenta Kassel, Biennale Venedig ...) make
clear, how the medium of the picture makes it possible to formulate
communicable ideas and ask questions that go beyond nations,
continents and religions. On the basis of examples such art positions
will be considered, analyzed and discussed.
- Contemplation of aesthetic theories
- The reading and discussion of aesthetic theories, which reflect
the boundaries and transitions of the social and art fields:
Aristoteles (Poetics), Derrida (Parergon), Raunig (Charon).
