Petecila, Ana-Maria won a literary prize in the Lucian Blaga Literature Competition in 2004 with a short story entitled The Beginning and the End, which was also published in the competition brochure. In 1998 she participated in an Inter-High-School conference with a paper called Free Will – A Sweet Imposition. In the spring of 2007 she received a one-month scholarship from the company she was working for at the time, meant to sponsor her research towards a PhD. She spent that time in Milan, Italy, doing research. The provisional title of her recently started PhD thesis is Liminality, Acculturation and Desire: A Modern-Day Odysseus and his Faithful Wife.
