von Flotow, Luise has been a professor for Translation Studies at the University of Ottawa School of Translation and Interpretation since 1996. Her areas of research iclude: gender issues in translation (Translation and Gender. Translating in the ‚Era of Feminism‘ (1997), translation and politics – sp. public diplomacy The Politics of Translation in the Middle Ages and the Renaissance (2001) – co-editor, Translating Canada (2007) co-editor, audiovisual translation and literary translation (many books from French and German and The Third Shore. Women’s Writing from East Central Europe (2006) – co-editor and co-translator). She is currently translating the journalistic works of Ulrike Meinhof (1960s Germany) for publicaton by Seven Stories, NYC with introductions by Elfriede Jelinek and Karin Bauer.
